Engelska som undervisningsspråk!

Genom att läsa på engelska utvecklar du en stark akademisk språkförmåga och får ett försprång inför både svenska och internationella universitetsstudier. Du utvecklar en säker akademisk engelska och blir väl förberedd för den kurslitteratur och undervisning som möter dig på både svenska och internationella universitet.

Forma din framtid – Medicin, Programmering eller Ingenjör?

På Per Brahegymnasiet kan du anpassa din utbildning efter dina intressen. Genom våra profiler inom naturvetenskap och IT får du en stabil grund för vidare studier inom exempelvis medicin, programmering, psykologi eller något helt annat?

Inriktningar och Profilval inför årskurs 2

Du behöver inte veta exakt vad du vill bli när du börjar på IB. Under Pre-DP (årskurs 1) får du tid att utveckla dina intressen och lära känna programmets ämnen innan du gör dina profilval inför DP1 (årskurs 2).

På IB läser alla elever sex ämnen: tre på Higher Level (HL) och tre på Standard Level (SL). HL-ämnena ger dig möjlighet att fördjupa dig inom de områden som intresserar dig mest och utgör mer än 60 % av dina studier under årskurs 2 och 3.

Är du särskilt intresserad av naturvetenskap och matematik? Då kan du välja att läsa tre science-ämnen tillsammans med matematik. I så fall kommer naturvetenskap och matematik att utgöra hela 74 % av din studieplan, vilket ger dig en mycket stark grund för vidare studier inom exempelvis medicin, teknik, naturvetenskap och forskning.

Natural Sciences – Profil

På IB-programmet kan du skapa en tydligt naturvetenskaplig studieväg utifrån dina intressen och framtidsmål. För dig som vill maximera dina naturvetenskapliga studier finns möjligheten att läsa biologi, kemi och fysik, vilket passar särskilt bra för exempelvis medicin- och vissa ingenjörsstudier. För många utbildningar i Sverige och utomlands räcker det dock med två av de tre ämnena, vilket ger stor flexibilitet i dina val.

Computer Science – Profil

På IB-programmet kan du också välja en mer teknisk inriktning genom att kombinera matematik, fysik och Computer Science. Det är ett utmärkt val för dig som är intresserad av programmering, datavetenskap, artificiell intelligens eller ingenjörsutbildningar. Kombinationen ger en stark grund inom både naturvetenskap och teknik, samtidigt som den öppnar dörrar till många eftertraktade universitetsutbildningar i Sverige och internationellt. Här skapas ett program med tydlig teknisk profil där du kan utveckla kunskaper som efterfrågas i framtidens arbetsliv.

English as the Language of Instruction

Studying in English gives you a valuable head start for higher education. You will develop strong academic language skills and gain confidence in reading, writing, and discussing complex topics in English. This prepares you well for the academic demands, course literature, and teaching methods found at both Swedish and international universities.

Shape Your Future: Medicine, Computer Science, or Engineering?

At Per Brahegymnasiet, you have the opportunity to tailor your education to your interests and ambitions. Through our Natural Sciences and IT pathways, you can build a strong foundation for further studies in fields such as medicine, computer science, psychology or something entirely different?

Pathways and Subject Choices for Year 2

You do not need to know exactly what you want to do when you start the programme. During the Pre-DP year (Year 1), you will have time to explore your interests and become familiar with the subjects before making your course selections for DP1 (Year 2).

All IB students study six subjects: three at Higher Level (HL) and three at Standard Level (SL). Your HL subjects allow you to specialise in the areas that interest you most and account for more than 60% of your studies during DP1 and DP2.

If you have a particular interest in science and mathematics, you may choose to study three science subjects alongside mathematics. In that case, science and mathematics together will make up as much as 74% of your study plan, providing an exceptionally strong foundation for university studies in medicine, engineering, the natural sciences, and research.

Natural Sciences Pathway

The Natural Sciences pathway allows you to create a programme with a strong scientific focus based on your interests and future goals. Students who wish to maximise their science studies can choose to combine Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, a combination that is particularly well suited for medicine and certain engineering degrees.

For many university programmes, however, two of these subjects are sufficient, giving you considerable flexibility when planning your studies.

Computer Science Pathway

Students with an interest in technology can choose a more technical route by combining Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science. This is an excellent option for those considering studies in programming, computer science, artificial intelligence, or engineering.

The combination provides a solid foundation in both science and technology while keeping a wide range of university options open, both in Sweden and internationally. It creates a distinctly technical profile and allows you to develop skills that are highly valued in an increasingly technology-driven world.

Antagningsprov och behörighet

Om du söker till IB på Per Brahegymnasiet som ditt första-, andra- eller tredjehandsval får du under vårterminen information om antagningsproven i engelska och matematik. Provet anordnas av Per Brahegymnasiet, och anmälan görs via en länk på skolans hemsida. Att bli godkänd på antagningsprovet innebär inte att du är antagen till programmet. Det betyder att du får delta i den slutliga antagningen den 1 juli, förutsatt att du också uppfyller behörighetskraven.

För att vara behörig till IB behöver du:

• ha godkända betyg i engelska, matematik och svenska eller svenska som andraspråk (Undantag i svenska om du kommit till Sverige i åk 8 eller senare).
• ha godkända betyg i biologi, kemi och fysik
• ha godkända betyg i ytterligare sex grundskoleämnen
• bli godkänd på antagningsprovet i engelska och matematik

Pre-DP från läsåret 2027/28

Från och med läsåret 2027/28 kommer kurserna under Pre-DP (årskurs 1) att likna Naturvetenskapsprogrammets kursutbud och undervisas på engelska. Detta ger en stabil grund inför fortsatta studier inom IB Diploma Programme.

Entrance Examination and Eligibility

If you apply to the IB Programme at Per Brahegymnasiet as your first, second, or third choice, you will receive information during the spring term about the entrance examinations in English and Mathematics. The examinations are administered by the school, and registration is completed via a link available on the school’s website.

Passing the entrance examination does not mean that you have been admitted to the programme. It means that you are eligible to compete for a place in the final admissions round on 1 July, provided that you also meet the academic entry requirements.

To be eligible for the IB Programme, you must:

• have passing grades in Swedish (or Swedish as a Second Language), English, and Mathematics (Exception for Swedish if you arrived in Sweden year 8 or later)
• have passing grades in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
• have passing grades in six additional compulsory school subjects
• pass the entrance examinations in English and Mathematics

Pre-DP from the 2027/28 Academic Year

From the 2027/28 academic year onwards, the courses taught during Pre-DP (Year 1) will be similar to the curriculum of the Natural Science Programme and taught in English. This provides a strong academic foundation for continued studies in the IB Diploma Programme.

Are you applying from abroad?

Applicants with an international educational background who are applying from outside of the Swedish school system, will be asked to submit the latest set of grades and complete entrance tests in Mathematics and English. The tests help the school assess whether the applicant's prior learning provides suitable preparation for pre-DP when Swedish national grades are not available as the basis for admission.

It is possible to apply to the IB programme to Pre-DP and DP1 as an international student. For Pre-DP you need to have finished year 9 or equivalent. For DP1 you need to have finished year 10 or equivalent.
